Hair Colour

Find a stylist you trust who treats you and your hair with respect. No matter how famous or great a stylist is, if they don't respect your hair needs, wants and desires, you will not be happy with the results. Ask people for the name of their stylist and why they like them. Select a few that have a reputation of concern for the customer and check them out.Pamper your hair at least once a week. This can be as simple as giving yourself a hot oil treatment or taking extra Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs). Give yourself a relaxing scalp massage or apply a special deep conditioning pack. Do something for your hair that makes it feel special. Your hair will respond in kind.

Hair colour, Different Hair Color Choices and Types

Hair colour is closely related to skin colour, which is governed by the same type of pigment, melanin. The number of melanin granules in the cortex of the hair and shape of the granules determine a person's natural hair colour.

Hair colour is determined by the amount of pigment in the hair and the shape of the pigment granules. People with dark hair have a larger amount of pigment than people with blonde hair. In both brunettes and blondes the pigment granules are elongated red hair results from the presence of oval shaped granules.

Hair colour darkens with age, but at some stage in the middle years of life the pigment formation slows down and silvery-grey hairs begin to appear. Gradually, the production of melanin ceases and all the hair becomes colorless or what is generally termed grey.

Different Hair Color Choices and Types If you want colour changes try and choose a shade that suits your skin tone and eyes. One or two shades either side of your natural colour is best. There are several options:

Permanent Hair Color: The colour penetrates the hair shaft and is with you until it grows out.

Semi-permanent Hair Color: The colour will wash out within about six weeks.

Temporary colorants: 'Wash'in, 'wash' out colours - ideal for a quick boost and special occasions.

Highlights: Fine streaks of colour that aim to give a sun-kissed appearance are ideal for fair hair.

Lowlights: Fine streaks of red or light brown tones to warm and lift the natural colour are ideal for brunettes.
